Golden Dawn Journal

GD Journal - Ciceros

Edited by Chic Cicero and Sandra Tabatha Cicero

This book explores how and why the process of divination works, traditional techniques of Tarot and Geomancy, (along with new information on both, new Tarot spreads, historical information derived from the actual Tarot readings of an original member of the Golden Dawn, and more. Some of the articles included are: The Psychology of Divination by Steven Marshall; Divination and the Magical Tarot by Gareth Knight; The Abbey Theatre Tarot Readings by Mary K. Greer; The Divination of the Rose Cross by Donald Michael Kraig; Mysteria Geomantica: Teachings on the Art of Geomancy by Adam P. Forrest; and From God to My Soul: Reading the Auspices by David Godwin.

"This interesting volume is bristling with articles written by authors well versed in Golden Dawn themes, who, however, do not restrict themselves to the traditions but add a modern view to them. The general attitude is, that the divinatory systems are basically magical systems, and not therapeutic systems, a thing that is often overlooked these days."
Manteia, no. 13

"You'll spend a great deal of time going through this book, I can guarantee it'll be time very well spent. This book is most highly recommended."
The Rosegate Journal, Lammas 1994

"Never before have the works of so many eminent occultists been gathered together under one cover. The Golden Dawn Journal presents the best perspectives on the Golden Dawn tradition with a specific examination of the aspects of divination, including new techniques in Tarot and Geomancy, and historical explorations on Golden Dawn ritual work for the novice. Because of the author's in-depth knowledge and extensive coverage of divination, Book I will engage magical students of all paths and traditions."

About the Golden Dawn Journal Series

The Golden Dawn Journal is an ongoing series of books designed to reflect the magical teachings and philosophy of the Hermetic Tradition. These books seriously explore the techniques used in ceremonial magic and include practical advice for the working magician. Many articles in the Journal series are written by various authors who have experience in western ceremonial magic; particularly the type of magic espoused by the Hermetic Order of the Golden Dawn. Some of the articles presented are not exclusively concerned with Golden Dawn magic, but which are none-the-less of interest to Hermetic students.
